Straighten crooked horizons in Final Cut Pro

Overview

Leveler is a Final Cut Pro plugin that quickly straightens crooked clips and fixes the horizon angle, which is especially handy for aerial footage from drones.

The main control, Leveler.Fine.Tune, straightens your image up to 10 degrees in either direction and scales it to hide the edges. For bigger fixes, Leveler.Custom goes further, with Source.Scale set by hand.

Turn on a horizontal or vertical guide line, and line it up with the horizon or a building. Set its angle, position, color and thickness.

Sharpen, brightness, contrast and color balance controls finish the shot.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then Leveler (show the sidebar if it is hidden).
Drag Leveler Guide On Horizontal (or Vertical) onto your clip.
Line up the guide with the horizon, then adjust Leveler.Fine.Tune until it is level.
For more than 10 degrees, use Leveler.Custom and set Source.Scale by hand.
Turn off Level.Guide.Line before you export.
