Overview

Light Rays adds volumetric lighting effects to your videos, pictures and text in Final Cut Pro, giving your shots more visual depth.

Pick a ray type, place the light, and set the amount and opacity. Then add color, a light prism effect or flicker, or mask the rays to part of the frame.

Features

Ray types and blending: choose a Rays Type and Rays Blend Type, then set Rays Amount, Circular Rays Amount and Rays Opacity.
Ray Position: place the source of the light in the frame.
Light Prism Effect: add a prism look, with its own angle control.
Colorize Rays: tint the rays with your choice of color and intensity.
Flicker: make the light flicker with Flicker Amount, Frequency and Noisiness.
Masking: limit the rays with Mask Rays, with invert, blur, position, rotation and scale controls.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects (show the sidebar if it's hidden).
Drag Light Rays onto your clip, picture or text.
In the Inspector, choose a Rays Type and set Ray Position to place the light.
Adjust Rays Amount and Rays Opacity, then add color, prism or flicker if you like.
Turn on Mask Rays to keep the rays to one part of the frame.
