Animated progress bars and countdowns for Final Cut Pro

Overview

Progress Bars is a Final Cut Pro title plugin that shows the current progress of anything on screen, such as how much time is left in a sponsored segment, a countdown or a goal.

The bar fills from the start of the title to the end, so you set the timing just by setting the title's length. Delay, Speed and Ease fine-tune when and how smoothly it moves.

Add a progress bug, an icon that marks the current position, and a counter that counts up or down, as numbers or as time in seconds.

Style everything: size, angle, roundness, borders, shadows, solid or striped fills, and slide-in and slide-out animation. The bug and the fills can even use your own media through Drop Zones.

Features
  • Timed by length: the bar fills over the length of the title. Press Control-D to type an exact duration.
  • Counters: count up or down, as numbers or as time in seconds, with font, decimals and step size options.
  • Progress bug: an icon that rides along with the progress, or your own image in a Drop Zone.
  • Fill styles: solid or striped fills for the progress and the background, or a Drop Zone with your own media.
  • Look and position: width, height, angle, roundness, borders and shadows, with an on-screen position control.
  • Slide in and out: start and end positions with their own speed and ease.
How to use
  1. In the Titles browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then Progress Bars (show the sidebar if it is hidden).
  2. Drag a progress bar into your timeline above your clip.
  3. Set its length to the time you want the bar to run: select it, press Control-D and type a duration.
  4. Choose a Counter.Type and set Counter.Start and Counter.End (in seconds for a time counter).
  5. Style the bar, bug and fills, and drag the on-screen control to position it.
Requirements
  • If the time counter shows 12:XX AM, turn on 24-hour time in your Mac's Language & Region settings.
  • Works with all versions of Final Cut Pro from the last 5+ years, including Final Cut Pro 11 and the current Final Cut Pro 12
  • Works with the current versions of macOS
  • Runs on Intel Macs and natively on Apple silicon (M1 and later)
  • No Apple Motion needed
  • Works with every resolution Final Cut Pro supports, including 4K and 8K
  • Install on any Mac you own that’s signed in to the same Apple account (Apple allows up to 5 Macs)
