Overview

Shaky Cam adds realistic camera shake, a handheld look, to your videos in Final Cut Pro.

Set it up fast with Intensity and the randomize controls, or turn on Manual Controls to adjust each part of the shake. Three distortion effects are included too: Chromatic Aberration, FCPecho and FCPearthquake.

Four Shaky Cam versions: cropped edges or mirrored edges, each with or without motion blur.
Quick setup: Intensity, plus XY Randomize and Rot. Randomize so the shake isn't the same on every clip.
Manual Controls: Scale, Distance, Frequency and Noisiness, plus rotation amount, frequency and noisiness.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then Shaky Cam (show the sidebar if it's hidden).
Drag a Shaky Cam effect onto your clip. MB versions add motion blur.
In the Inspector, set Intensity, and use XY Randomize and Rot. Randomize to vary the motion.
For more control, turn on Manual Controls and adjust the individual settings.

FAQ

What does MB mean?

Motion blur. MB versions look slightly more realistic but take longer to render.

Cropped edges or mirrored edges?

Cropped edges crops around the outside of your clip, so shoot a little wide if you can. Mirrored edges uses mirror images of your clip instead, so nothing is cropped, but it takes longer to render.

Will every clip shake the same way?

Not if you use the randomize controls. They change the motion so it's different on each clip.

Where do I find it after installing?

In the Effects browser, under My FCPeffects.
