Overview

The Vignette Plugin is a Final Cut Pro plugin for custom vignettes that finish your shots and guide your viewers' attention to the part of the frame that matters.

Shape the vignette with position, angle, curvature, width, height, feather and falloff. Turn on Preview.Vignette to see its exact shape and location as a solid color while you set it up.

Then adjust the inside and the outside separately: brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, color balance and sharpness. Outside the vignette you can also add blur, light rays, colorize or a tint.

It is a title layer: drag it above the clip you want to work with.

Features

Full shape control: position, angle, curvature, width, height, feather and falloff.

How to use

In the Titles browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects (show the sidebar if it is hidden).
Drag the Vignette Plugin into your timeline above the clip you want to work with.
Select it and turn on Preview.Vignette. Set Position, Width, Height and Curvature, then turn the preview off.
Adjust Feather and Falloff for soft edges.
Darken, desaturate or blur the outside, or brighten and sharpen the inside, to guide the viewer's eye.

Yes. Inside.Brightness, Inside.Contrast, Inside.Saturation, Inside.Hue, color balance and sharpness all work inside the vignette.

Can it blur the background?

Yes. Defocus gives a realistic blur, Basic.Blur renders faster, and there are color, angle, circular and channel blurs too.

Does it affect all the clips below it?

It is a title layer, so it works on the clips beneath it in the timeline.
